Job Description

Are you experienced at generally managing? Have you worked previously in the hospitality industry? We’re looking for a General Manager for one of our properties here in the heart of Lincoln City. (Yes, this position is in person and requires being local.)

Our dream GM will be responsible for all vacation rental services. You’re also going to be overseeing our housekeeping, expense management, team building, and employee development. You’ll need to be comfortable with terminating employees when necessary, but also throwing them the occasional pizza party and saying “Go team”.

This job comes with a wide range of responsibilities, and we need someone who can handle it all:

  • Carry out any tasks assigned by the Senior VP of Operations, VP of Business Development, Director of Operations, or the company Owners. We need you to be more apt to say, “Yes, I can do that”, rather than “That’s not my job”.
  • Develop and maintain a staff schedule for all departments, ensuring that all shifts and job duties are covered. If someone calls out at the front desk, you should be willing to roll up your sleeves and jump in. Yes, you may have to answer the phone.
  • Hire and train new employees. Complete all onboarding paperwork necessary for new staff, as well as follow all company policies on implementing emails, codes, software access, etc. You should have an eye for who would fit in our company culture and be able to get them up to speed.
  • Make sure our staff are performing up to expectations. Complete all corrective employee actions, coaching, reviews and terminations when necessary. You need to be comfortable being both the good cop and the bad cop.
  • Monitor and accurately record all owner charges, furnishings, and maintenance monthly. Updating spreadsheets once a year isn’t going to cut it. We need someone who’s on it, without the need for reminders.
  • Complete all end-of-month tasks such as owner statements and payments to owners, as well as any additional tasks or projects assigned. Bonus points if you keep on top of it throughout the month instead of discovering 47 things that need your attention on the last day.
  • Maintain exemplary relationships with all the unit owners and pursue new owner-clients. Yes, even when they are angrily asking, “Why isn’t my unit making more money?” or “What is this maintenance charge on my owner statement?”
  • Understand and participate in building listings to market the units. You might assist our Marketing Manager from time to time. Make us money please.
  • Have an understanding of budget and company cost effectiveness for daily operations. You should be good with money. Specifically, ours.
  • You should know your way around a desk. Front desk duties aren’t just for the Office Specialist. You should be able to complete all the same operations including maintaining logs, writing End of Shift (EOS) reports, review collection, payout process, etc.
  • Communicate with outside vendors as needed. You might need to arrange a carpet cleaning from time to time or get in touch with pest control. It’s not just about making the call and getting it scheduled. Make sure they show up, the work gets done, get the invoice, and get them paid. Full circle. We love closure.
  • Accurately maintain company attendance logs. You should be keeping track of who’s calling out, who’s here and here on time, and who is completely MIA.
  • Have a robust knowledge of all units in our inventory. You should know the difference between 157 and 372 and which one has the gold toilet and which one has the quilted bedsheets.
  • Maintain a healthy and positive work environment. We spend enough time here as it is.
  • Directly manage ALL daily operations of the location. There’s a reason we put ‘General’ in the title.
  • Ensure that overall guest ratings on OTAs stay at the highest level possible. Keep our guests happy and wanting to return, while still upholding our company policies and procedures. It’s a fine line to walk.

If you’re still reading and haven’t fallen asleep, that’s a good sign. Maybe we’re a good match.

The least you could do is apply through Indeed and cross your fingers. But if you really want to make yourself stand out, shoot us a cover letter. Explain why you think you should be our next General Manager. Take us from “Oh that’s a nice resume” to “Let’s bring this person in for an interview right now. ” We’ll give you extra bonus points if you work the word “banana” into your cover letter. Hope to hear from you!
